Record remittances: US$7,316.4 million reached the DR in seven months

Remittances keep breaking records in the Dominican Republic. The Central Bank (BCRD) reported that between January and July 2026 the country received US$7,316.4 million in remittances, an increase of US$442.0 million (6.4%) over the same period in 2025.

A July that sets the trend

July was especially strong: US$1,097.1 million entered, exceeding by US$49.3 million what was received in July 2025, a year-over-year expansion of 4.7%. The figure consolidates the upward trend observed throughout the year.

Why it matters

Remittances are one of the country’s main sources of foreign currency and a direct support for the consumption of millions of families. Every dollar that arrives translates into groceries, school, health and small investments in Dominican neighborhoods and countryside. For the economy, they also help finance the trade deficit and keep the exchange rate stable.
