Electoral Tribunal rejects suspending funds distribution to political parties
Photo: AcentoThe Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) dismissed the injunction that sought to suspend the distribution of public funds to political parties, clearing the way for Resolution 01-2026 of the Central Electoral Board (JCE).
Why the suspension was requested
The injunction was filed by Proyecto Visión Nación (PVN) and José Cristopher Ramírez, who argued the funding scheme approved by the JCE should be halted. The tribunal, however, found that the requirements of imminent harm or irreparable damage were not met.
What the ruling means
With the decision, the JCE can continue the distribution of the funds contemplated in the resolution, which defines how public resources are shared among political parties ahead of the next electoral cycles.
The political context
The ruling comes amid the ruling party’s reorganization: after the PRM Delegates Assembly, Juan Garrigó took over as General Secretary and Gloria Reyes as Organization Secretary, in a stage the party defines as internal cohesion.
The key figure
01-2026. The JCE resolution regulating public funding for parties, which remains in force after the TSE ruling.
