Dominican tourism keeps breaking its own records. The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) reported that the country received 7,700,118 visitors in the first seven months of 2026, growth of 7% over the same period in 2025 and 10.4% over 2024. The cumulative figure is not the only reading: in month-over-month comparisons, the country has reported double-digit increases.

How the figure breaks down

  • 5,885,259 tourists arrived by air.
  • 1,814,859 cruise passengers arrived through the country’s ports.
  • In July alone, the country received 1,083,448 visitors, a new high for the month.

Tourism Minister David Collado highlighted that the figure confirms the country’s consolidation as one of the Caribbean’s leading destinations, with high hotel occupancy even off-season.

Why it matters for the economy

Tourism is the country’s main source of foreign currency and one of its largest job creators. Every additional visitor means fuller hotels, active restaurants and families depending on the tourism chain. Cruise arrivals, moreover, are diversifying the ports receiving passengers.

The key figure

7,700,118 visitors in seven months. The best year start in the history of Dominican tourism, with July pointing to the annual record being within reach.
