School year: 2 million students return on August 24

The Ministry of Education (MINERD) confirmed that the 2026-2027 school year will begin on Monday, August 24, with the return to classrooms of students in the pre-university education system.
Preparations underway
Through Departmental Order 04-2026, issued in March, the ministry activated the Special Commission for the Opening of the School Year. Work focuses on three fronts: upgrading educational infrastructure, guaranteeing capacity in all centers and the timely distribution of furniture and equipment.
What to expect in the first weeks
Education Minister Luis Miguel De Camps has insisted the goal is that no student is left without a place at the start of the school year. Families, meanwhile, can already consult the educational centers and enrollment dates published by the ministry.
