The Dominican harvest in the MLB: Soto, Guerrero and De La Cruz lead

Dominican baseball remains the heart of the Major Leagues. In the 2026 season, three Dominican players were elected All-Star starters — Juan Soto, Junior Caminero and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. — and Juan Soto once again starred in the largest contract in sports history.

Soto, the king of the harvest

Soto was chosen by popular vote as a National League outfield starter with the New York Mets, with a line of .296/.404/.560 and 18 home runs at the time of the election. It is the franchise with which he signed a 15-year, US$765 million deal, the largest in baseball history, tying him through 2039.

The Dominican season

• Junior Caminero (Tampa Bay Rays) was the Dominican home run leader with 26 at the time of the election, and the American League third base starter.
• Elly De La Cruz (Cincinnati Reds) is batting .274 with 20 home runs and 54 RBIs and adds 21 stolen bases: another season of 20+ homers and electric speed.
• Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Toronto Blue Jays) was elected by fans to first base, although he decided to rest for the second half of the season.
• José Ramírez (Cleveland Guardians) signed in January a 7-year, US$175 million extension; a fracture in his left hand slowed his power, but he keeps 28 stolen bases.

Each of these names is an audience magnet and an example for young Dominicans who dream of baseball. The pipeline does not stop: while stars dominate, thousands of prospects train on the island waiting for their turn.
